The concept is ingenious -- make learning fractions easier by dividing them into suits like a deck of cards. The suits include tenths (green), twelfths (blue), and sixteenths (red). The object is to make one whole by collecting cards of a suit. Great idea, right? Two to four people can play, but we found that three worked great for us (DH, Big Sis, and me). We used our pocket chart at first to help Big Sis figure out different combinations to make a whole. Each time we play, Big Sis gets a little faster at the math and does not rely on the pocket chart.
There are several ways to play the game, which could also be played alone for practice. You can give it a try online, too.
I love that the game is not only fun and helpful at learning fractions, but it's a real confidence builder for those that might be struggling with math. Fractazmic makes it less intimidating to tackle. We have enjoyed this so much that I'd like to try the other games from I See Cards as well. At only $6.95, Fractazmic is an inexpensive yet effective math manipulative.
